Is there a modern context for modern war?
The militarism spoken of in the Book of Deuteronomy, was perhaps not specific to modern day terrorism; rather ancient Israel. But, in modern times, if we engage our enemy with violence still or comandeer it, rather than accept possible death at his or her hand, then we are not completely faithful to Christ. So, friends, while there are brothers and sisters already dead to war, for life… we need to remember that much more important than engaging the enemy in battle, is to pray for mortal enemies such as ISIS. My understanding is that this post and the preceding message, are not contrary to one another, if we are to become modern day Israel. Christ is, was, and will remain Christ. We are the ones who are changing and must do so, in order to suit Him, for eternity.
