I may have already referenced this subject matter before. I will briefly speak about it again: How do US actors, of major motion pictures and TV, sustain their lifestyle? How do they pay their expenses when there is not a long line of motion pictures in cue for them? While there are “case-by-case” answers of specificity to answer that and describe it, what isn’t always known to most people is that some of these actors are faced with the incentive of pleasing the union: (1) with their membership dues, (2) by winning favor of the union through supporting the politics and the politicians who promise to ensure a steadier stream of work and promotions. This is done with awards: (1) coveted future acting roles, (2) involvement in worthwhile actions of prominence, and, political causes that: (1) promote their own celebrity, and (2) feed the loop of promotion, fame, income, political fund-raising, and political action.
