I would like to thank all the Americans who are bravely defending our shared freedoms in the streets of America, facing down unruliness. Your recent march in DC was proud and honorable; you’ve put your safety second, for the sake of our President, Vice President, members of government – for all of our sake. These freedoms might not be here tomorrow. I’ve seen the violence against us. I’ve witnessed defenders of our monuments: statues such as that of Christopher Columbus under threat… as you stand in the way, as thugs have thrown ice, bricks, and bottles at you. They’ve threatened our long and hard fought peace and stability, using fists and knives against peaceful people. Today, I simply wish to thank you for your bravery; and for your solid display of human principle at its finest hours.
