Turkey fires at two Russian jet pilots
Putting “blank check” trust in NATO, was proven naive this week; as a NATO member state, Turkey, demonstrated clear ideological opposition to the efforts of defeating ISIS through disruption of its supply. As we have see this week, within NATO, we have opposition to unity. Turkey this week abandoned any moderate “veil” it may have otherwise intended to show, while Russia continues a successful military campaign against ISIS (a brutal Sunni Muslim militia) according to Russian Television and much of mainstream media.
Generally, because a military aims to protect its leaders often more fervently than the private citizenry (citizens they are trusted to defend in various territories) – and this is true of every country, we have for a long time seen failures in policy. No more certain an example have I seen recently, than in the troubling exposition of NATO member state intention… the intention of sponsoring in fact, and defending the military interest of the biggest existential threat according to Europe, ISIS – an exposition revealed by the shooting down of Russian military airmen, who were in the process of attacking ISIS targets. This comes at a time, where years of failed direct engagement against ISIS strongholds, has caused systemic problems. Thanks to Russia, this is changing. NATO must be very cautious of disrespect toward a Russia that is now allied with NATO. Bribing states also, will not ensure better behavior among minority opposition within NATO. I hope NATO has a plan to admit tangled alliances and make every effort to remedy.
