Quote of the day:
“You wanna what? Put jalapeno peppers on my double-double?! No! Please! No jalapeno peppers on my American burger.”
Have you ever noticed some of the cultural intrusions on certain cuisine? Some adaptations are both wonderfully creative; and are fantastic for the culinary senses and enjoyment. But, others, can get carried away with making everything into “their own”. Some foods you just shouldn’t mess with. They’re good just the way they are. That’s why we often choose that particular standard. No, there’s nothing racist about that. Don’t forget, what you eat does not make you who you are. What you eat, does however have to satisfy. So, back off, and let people like what they like.
World heritage sites in a similar way, safeguard the unique cultural heritage of a particular cherished spot, before it can be either destroyed or adapted.
