Many of the lyrics are fictitious (as they do not describe one in relationship with that lyricist); while some of them are truthful accounts of exactly where one stands.

Like movies, art in general, poetry, literature, we connect with artists as an audience – whether authored by male or female, sometimes irrespective of the gender of the performer, and whether we are male or female recipient. That is because, the spirit of the art is that which binds.

While many of my most favorite musicians are men, today’s post focuses on women; and not male solo nor group performer.

Have you ever felt that you had a connection to particular movie or to TV actors? A certain kinship or identification of connection? You’re not alone. That is what inspires this post.
How about to musicians? Again, you’re not alone.

What if, from a distance, each of us has relationship with musician(s). There are those who have a scientific theory. Namely, that the reason we have preference to particular style, is attributable to a connection to the race of a distant planet and culture – to the people there in connection to you or to me.

I decided to work on a short-list, excluding many, of the women who I’ve had “relationship” with through their music. Like Willie Nelson once said in a song of his, “to all the girls I’ve loved before.” Each of us has this, I believe, and the connection can be felt deeply from time to time. And, as we age, new artists can touch us in a new way. The journey is never
over.

Bette Midler, once sang: “From a distance….” (lyrics). In that spirit, I’ve had relationships (from a distance) with singer/songwriters. Maybe not in the way we are accustomed, such as through face to face interaction, or intimacy, but authentic nevertheless.

Lyrics can be pure fantasy in construct, fictionalized, or can truthfully describe to you the nature of YOUR relationship to that artist in a way that others might not understand or see.

Here are the ones I participated with; but, the one’s listed in “did”, more receptively than the ones listed in “did not”. Deeper than that though, on some level, even with the “did nots” also. And, those not listed here at all, do not exclude others unlisted, momentarily forgotten, or yet to introduce themselves to the world.

Only in your dreams and imagination?
