Today’s post, I might have written similarly about before (same topic).<\/p>\n
It’s a good time to stress the importance of this topic yet again: about paper statements.<\/p>\n
Friends, I know that many Americans rely on their smart phones to do their daily tasks (I’m not dumber than your phone). And, smart phones are not only mobile; they utilize apps that more and more companies encourage us to use.<\/p>\n
This is not necessarily progress; this method has serious limitations.<\/p>\n
Let’s suppose that there is an “EMP”. EMP’s render access to your Internet and electrical devices useless. So, if you use Internet banking, or some banking app, or an ATM, good luck with that. Right? I recommend that you withdraw a small amount of cash and put it in a safe, or, in a safety-deposit-box at your bank. Heck, even in a shoe-box if you have to.<\/p>\n
Now just how long would an EMP last? I don’t know.<\/p>\n
How about cell phone tower outages? How long would such an event render your mobile phone useless? Again, I don’t know.<\/p>\n
How about mail delivery? Well, maybe mail delivery would take longer too?<\/p>\n
My advice, is that you NOT opt-out of paper statements from your bank. Banks prefer that you go “paperless” or that you use mobile banking apps. One of the reasons that they encourage this, is to save themselves paper and postage costs.<\/p>\n
I like to receive bank statements for my bank account(s) in my mail. I use that data as a reminder to check transaction activity and my balances against my online banking display and my receipts.<\/p>\n
If I ever need to prove that I own my account(s), I can also do so with my paper statement records. Plus, if my Internet goes down, I can depend on the paper statements in order to continue to monitor my banking activity.<\/p>\n
You should also have a food supply stored at home in a dry place. Freeze-dried food with a long shelf life, can keep you alive through calamity. Don’t depend on the goodness of others, only, during severe crisis. If you can get voluntary help, that’s wonderful. But, even good people will be focusing on their own needs first. Responsible people will be prepared; and, will have better chances of not only surviving – but surviving in relative comfort.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
