(And, is, for those of you who might know a thing or two about it already).

As a Christian, I know that I should not condone the sex trade in any way. I try not to. Christians have to accept that it’s better for us to remember and put into good practice, the commandment regarding lustful pleasure. Many people make a profession by it, and though perhaps they should not, we have to be sensitive to people who profit from the sex trade – hoping that they can alter their career path.

It”s good to pray for one another, with hope that penance will lead to a more chaste life.

Let’s give this topic as it relates to ‘Hollywood’ a bit of general perspective: It used to be, quite long ago in history (though this is a young nation), that California’s gold-rush (circa 1848) – brought many sex workers in the form of prostitution, to the “Golden Coast”. This is because there was money to be had. Money attracted not only gold prospectors looking to get wealthy from excavated gold nuggets; but, also from selling sex. Establishments opened, where musicians, side-shows, prostitutes, pimps, madams, bar-tenders (and so forth) – cashed in. This has not changed.

Today, in 2020, sex still sells. Whether it be in the form of pornography, virtual reality systems, Internet pornography, escorting, illegal prostitution, erotic fashion photography, the profiteers are still: madams, pimps, music artists, “actors”, businesses, tax collectors, and technology experts. In some way, we’re all impacted by this gigantic trade.

Hollywood, as an industry, has long been a profiteer. It still is. Its profits still finance our state government income and reserves. Research global sales online, and you’ll be amazed by the figures and global reach through product, that the sex industry supplies. While such product is protected by speech liberty, most of it is harmful; and, if you have kids, you need to protect them and guide them well most especially.

The whole west coast of the USA, and other states by proxy, has shared this history. What has changed over the years, is that strict laws have regulated this trade since the days of 1848. The aim has been to manage it and commercialize it further, using strict guidelines to control “actors” and “customers”. It’s reach is vast.

“Actor” participants still lawfully partake as employees in this trade. And, customers still lawfully “consume” in this trade.

Brothels for unclothed, flesh-on-flesh, real penetrative sex, are only lawful in the state of Nevada to my knowledge (at present day). And, while such establishments are limited and seeming to decrease in number, in my state of California, there is a lawful form of prostitution too. It must take place in a designated & licensed establishment. Establishments must comply with other strict laws. Some of these precautions are: 1. sexual activities must be monitored by camera (CC TV) so that potential law breaches can be observed, documented, and supplied to police (if required). 2. Customers can only imbibe water. 3. Customers may not used their hands to touch “actors”, “actors” are on top. 4. Only the “actors” can touch. They (“actors”) can also arouse completely, by way of contact on customer’s lap.

Back in the 1990’s, in Los Angeles and elsewhere, such young “actors” were engaged in such business so that they might acquire money to pay for college. Some of them were undoubtedly interested in the sex with attractive men. Others, were older in age and perhaps interested in retiring soon or changing jobs – as younger more attractive women were hired. And, still others, were perhaps interested in finding a boyfriend/girlfriend or their future husband/wife.

Naturally, many customers had the same objective(s). Boy-meets-girl, girl-meets-boy, girl-meets-girl, boy-meets-boy. Customers were looking for a girlfriend/boyfriend, or a future wife/husband in many cases.

With some Southern CA Universities and Community Colleges now in 2020 offering free or discounted schooling, the expenses are less for tuition. This makes education a more attainable goal for many people who might not require “moonlighting” at such a sex-trade establishment just off campus.

Dreams don’t always pan out. Not always for me, and not always for anyone else. And, so, scapegoating is not fair when hopes might be dashed. Participants are fully able to make adult decisions for themselves as to whether they choose to have anything to do with such establishments in the sex trade.

If a customer wants to leave such trade, in California, they have the law on their side at all times should their situation become precarious and dangerous.

Many customers never find that lifelong partner there. But, cynics would have you believe that you are in the wrong place to find such a partner. Well, if you have contact information and interest in a customer or “actor”, then the truth is, that a relationship CAN start that way. But, rather than write about whether that is true or not for everyone, some people have regrets about their behavior. Some people may find that their private and personal reasons for having engaged in that business, didn’t pan out for them the way that they had hoped it would.

Is it true that an “actor” providing sex services can find promotion to mainstream acting roles? Yes. It is possible.

Very important for everyone to know: actors seeking mainstream movie roles, should be hired based on merit. Sexual favors should NEVER become the basis for hire. Actors for stage and screen, deserve roles based on: 1. their acting ability 2. passion to step in suitably for the role 3. ability to properly research role 4. willingness to take stage direction and understand it 4. professional ability to work with other crew.

Excluding virtual reality sex projects, pornography sex projects, sex chat, and modelling, mainstream acting requires teachable skill that has less to do with sexual attractiveness; and, more to do with other teachable skill. Raw innate talent matters too. And, looks matter to casting agents as they search for the suitable image likeness of that character.

Can an actor and director fall in love on set? Can two actors fall in love on a set? Absolutely! And, there’s nothing wrong with that. Unless it’s a sex acting project, the actors should not engage in physical romance until the project is done with. That’s my personal view.

Lastly, on the topic of forcible sex. This is something that is unacceptable. Even on a sex project, there are requirements and obligations… most notably that the “actors” consent and are of legal adult age.

For the general public, it seems there are so many rapes. We hear about them occasionally occurring on college campuses. We hear about rapes in the community. We hear about abuses of power in corporate America too. And, that happens even in defiance of laws that protect minors. So, is law enforcement doing its job? I certainly think so. I think they’ve been doing a great job here locally, from what I can tell. And, they should be keenly aware of instances of false accusation or extortion.

A con can make a situation look completely different from what actually happened. Moreover, when statute of limitation means that a victim comes forward way too many years late… this is sign of a con job.

The sad thing is, that when a person is raped, they feel shame and less pure. I don’t blame them for acknowledging their suffering to other people. No one enjoys feeling used. That is why I advocated along with many other people in the “hash-tag” “me too” movement some years ago online. I joined out of personal understanding and an empathy, for anyone who has ever been violated in a way that was non consensual . No means “no”, to unwanted sex. Pushing someone away with your arms and hands, also, means “no”. And, if that doesn’t work, you might be justified giving good kick in the groin.

This post, is for those of you who are unfamiliar with the sex trade in Southern California.
