A short one – to the point.

Have you ever heard the phrase, “We’ll use carrots and sticks.”? For those of you who don’t know what that means, it means that as a negotiating tool, government uses “carrots” – that are sweet and good for you, to bribe you into compliance. And, conversely, they’ll use “sticks” as a means of beating you into submission. That hurts, and might get you to comply.

So, what does that have to do with “endless” hearings that are being used as a front, in order to campaign for one’s own political party? A lot. You see, “carrots and sticks” were widely understood as being a perfectly normal means of negotiating, on behalf of the welfare of the United States, with foreign nations. It’s been a widely accepted tactic since the beginning; getting friendly counterparts or despotic national leaders alike, to come to “the table” through either means. Of course, as we all know when neither of the tactics works, government(s) might resort to war and bloodshed.

Now, the metaphor has been escalated to “quid pro quo”. It’s actually not derogatory at all of a term. But, to the naive, it implies a breach of law. Actually, “quid pro quo” is an accepted method that when not practiced at all and deferred… society would collapse as we now know it into anarchy. You see, leaders know how to negotiate. Especially when we are seeking either compromise or advantage. And, assuming that they’re negotiating for the good of the country, above their own benefit… then they’re doing their job that they were elected to do. Hamstringing the chief negotiator (the president), is a sure way to give advantages to other nations in our time of weakness and internal disputes.

Americans should not tolerate “hearings” that are designed to block executive leadership, save face, point fingers – searching for ill gotten vindication. This is a waste of taxpayer money – is fraud. Stone-walling of our democratically elected 45 president is not good. It’s actually impeachable, but our president is gracious and conciliatory – especially towards women. For all of us who value government subsidized assistance, social services, a functional government, and troops returning home… these “hearings” are not helpful. So if these “impeachable offenses” have any merit, they best remember the real offenses played out from their own party.

Okay my faithful readers, it’s time for a political post (for a change) again.
