Regarding the Hollywood scandal concerning producer Mr. Harvey W.: I once attended (as an audience member invited to a business event), a speech that he gave in Los Angeles. I knew nothing of his personal alleged misdeeds at the time, until the news about him was aired this month. To me (at his speech night), he seemed like just one more senior-aged movie producer, who had found large financial success in the mainstream commercial US movie industry. I did not know which movies he was attached to as a producer, and frankly I did not care too much to know.<\/p>\n
My best wishes today, go to all those who are speaking out about their respective victimization surrounding his alleged forced acts. While I am not judge and jury, these sexual acts that he is alleged of, are often tools of bribery, blackmail, and exploit in business settings. Hopefully, all people in positions of power, will remember that “yes” means yes, and “no” means no – in all cases. Though, especially when it come to sex. Unless a person willingly prostitute him or herself, or is a sex actor on assignment, there should be no doubt that sexual activity among film-makers (forcible) is unsafe.<\/p>\n
Film making requires the intentions of behaving as professionals. And, even in pornographic movies, there should be no deviation from the laws as they apply to and protect all employees and employers there as well.<\/p>\n
We should also understand that false accusations about people are wrong as well – another aspect of the discussion. And, that victims have the responsibility when they go public with accusations of sexual assault, to be careful as to how they recollect their past sexual activities. Sometimes people can feel like a victim, when they should be ashamed of their own behavior (perhaps). Even in situations where sex was consensual, feelings of shame can cause a person to want to scapegoat. Or, lack of advancement in the profession, can be a cause to seek recourse in such a manner against a person in a higher position. That is why, unless a sexual predator admit wrong-doing (as Mr. W has), women and men alike need to be careful about ruining a person’s reputation. In best case scenarios, those who work in Hollywood, behave responsibly and without a feeling of exemption from laws. Unfortunately, in many walks of American life, that is not always the case. Therefore, measured punishment and testimonies, are essential parts of changing the culture. Otherwise, if you are good to all those you have had sexual relations with, you can think of the experiences as good memories of consenting experience – hopefully the other person feels as you do you. Or, if you are greatly disliked, you may not be as lucky.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
