A few steps brought me to this page. As I like to do some times, I read up on persons who I do not know personally, but whose policies and leadership have impact on my life and those of my fellow global citizens. And, EU policy is very much co mingled and dependent upon US policy and visa versa. One such person of influence, is the current EU president of the European Council, Donald Tusk. Certainly he is an individual in EU politics who has advocated for an inclusive EU; as the wikipedia site quotes him as saying “Neither the right nor the left, just straight to Europe.” Is it possible that the very weak voice heard in much of Europe today, in weak defense against an Islamic domination of the EU of late, comes in part from his soft pulpit in defense of this inclusiveness [which some European leaders seem to be all too willing]? With some of us who are moderates, being painted as reactionary, (not necessarily by him) he said this past evening (and I paraphrase) that European affairs remain European affairs (in light of Turkeys bid for EU membership, according to press insinuations). That is a signal to people like me, who care about Europe, and don’t want to see ISIS succeed against a weakened Europe, to keep our mouths shut? Maybe he believes that a stronger EU must include more Muslim influence and migration? Ok, refugee quotas for asylum, we get that; but are we to support Turkey’s membership with great applause now given what we know? And in no apparent way, did the acting president chastise Turkey for downing Russian jets fighting ISIS targets. Or did he?<\/p>\n
Of course, you can make that determination for yourself on whether he personally harbors ill will against Russia over the Ukraine too. You can decide for yourself if he quietly supported Turkey’s misbehavior within NATO in recent days. Again, this is plain sight reading observation. I do find it seemingly contradictory that Mr. Tusk share an interest in warmer ties with Russia economically, as has been known to say, while also seeming very Turkey-friendly to say the least, even after the downing of two military jets. Maybe he has had a change of heart after certain dates, as to public statements about Russian relations. Even Russia was friendly with Turkey, before this recent incident with Turkey. But now, after the downed jets were blatantly and unapologetically claimed brought down by a NATO member… now there’s a problem, and legitimate strain between Russia and Turkey. Russia is defending Europe however. Is this unappreciated? I hope it is not.<\/p>\n
The EU seems to have been stating that Turkey is the diplomatic bridge to Russia. But this is now naive – though not entirely. Then upon reading wikipedia links a bit further, I find an interesting theory. Has the EU president been holding a grudge against Russia for the tragic airline downing of “Air Force Tu-154”? Is Russia being scape-goated for that? Is the EU sore over Ukraine? So sore, that it cannot even see its own contributions to Sunni radical fronts, that now want to turn on them too? Regarding the “Tu-154”, particularly, if you read section “Changes in Poland’s international politics with respect to the investigation” on that page, one does see motive for sour relations between the EU president of the European Council and Russia. And they are personal, if in fact they are true. But, as I say, the EU president has long championed for ideals that seem non threatening and even quite proper for Europe. So this is no indictment on a man, but if my analysis is more than conspiracy theory, it just may explain why the EU is currently so lacking in condemnation or responsibility taking, for Turkey’s downing of the Russian jets. This may explain some reasons why the EU seemingly lacks the political will to do what France has done this week, and that is to condemn ISIS’s killings. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
