great new movie out: “Birth of the Dragon”
“Birth of the Dragon” is a movie that has just recently been released to American audience.
Being Catholic, I can’t ignore the initial mindfulness to the Book of Revelation in our Bible, when I first saw the movie title. But, this movie title (I believe) references the “re-birth” of Kung Fu (birth of it in the USA 1960’s), of Legend Bruce Lee’s born philosophy, and of new martial arts. Without spoiling a thesis of the film story for you, just consider that “Dragon” refers I think to Bruce, and “birth”, to man’s spiritual awakening in a most positive way – completely congruent with Christianity and ancient Eastern philosophy too I might add.
After my having seen this film, I’d like to make the recommendation to you.
If you are interested in Chinese philosophy and virtue, in martial arts, in Bruce Lee, in action and romance, a sliver of Chinese-American history set periodically in 1960’s San Francisco; or if you want to be highly impressed by the cinematography, music tracks, acting, staging, writing, directing, costuming, action stunt, and general dynamism (all present in this phenomenal movie), then GO SEE IT! I went with a loved one. I’ll leave my recommendation simple as that.
I also recommend the Disney nature movies that came out this past year. Wow, such beauty. I probably missed some really great other films that came out this past year, and I don’t review all the movies that I really enjoyed, but here’s this one tip for you about this Bruce Lee re-boot.
“Raiders of Lost Ark” or “Indie Jones” sequel is coming soon to theater near us I’ve learned – I’m looking forward to that as well.
So grab a date, or your relative, and don’t forget your popcorn! Sit back and enjoy this one folks. Take time out of your busy day. You’ll be glad you did “grasshopper”.
