These two articles report two very different perspectives, but are two faces looking at the same shared goal – we hope:

This week, some very significant actions took place. First, the United States asserted military warning to the Syrian President Assad. And today, our US president has sent Mr. Tillerson to Russia, after his stop in Italy, to speak with the Russian leadership about establishing peace in Syria.

Why do we, as American citizens hope for collaboration with Russia? Because many of us have witnessed the swift and significant success that our prior, all-be-it brief, miltary cooperation achieved in reducing ISIS in Syria to weakness – as was reported in recent months on mainstream news.

Assad, Syria’s president, is an Alawite. This means that he belongs to a religious blend consisting in part of Muslim and Christian beliefs, (according to wikipedia) source. He also was elected. So, we as American Christians, surely should dare to hope that he would be exstatic at our US and Russian coalition against ISIS. ISIS destroys Christians. In fact, Mr. Assad was reported on televised news as saying, that he welcomes that very situation to assist him with that problem in his country. He had said so just prior to the US presidential election. And, he hoped that Mr. Donald Trump would win, in order to achieve this end. Though Mr. Assad did express some reservations and skepticism, our president has made it quite clear, that we want this resolved now. Our president also made it clear that ISIS was US enemy number one. Well we have the golden opportunity to prove all skepticism that the USA can extinguish ISIS incorrect. Now that Mr. Assad may be scared ****less about being deposed or even killed by the USA, after the missiles last week, Mr. Tillerson has taken presidential order to sweep in to speak with Russia while the timing is just right. Let’s now use the chance to go in and get the job done vs. ISIS.

I certainly think, as do many other Americans, that Assad will be much obliged to invite us in – overjoyed even, to complete the job and to get it done for the peacable civilian citizens of Syria. Eliminating ISIS, is required, in order to bring about peace in a country that has already seen 100’s of thousands die. And they have died due to religious oppositional sectarians – people who hate each other, living in a country that does not benefit in any way from ISIS. This is a country that has gang warfare going on in regions of the country. Russia and the USA have a common enemy – ISIS. Right?

And, I have never heard Assad say that he considers ISIS his friend either. This is fertile ground for cooperation. USA and Russia have never in my lifetime, had as much opportunity as now. And, that is good for Syria, as well as the whole world.
